R&D Lab Researcher

Our client is a globally operating construction materials retailer based in Bern. We support our customers in filling the position of R&D Lab Researcher (m/w/d).

Job description:

Lead and execute R&D projects focused on novel production processes that lead to the development of new clinkers and/or cement-based materials, which reduce CO2 emissions of our manufacturing processes and products. 

Develop laboratory prototypes aiming to confirm novel chemistry and the required novel chemical processes with the objective of providing the required scale-up parameters. 

Implement and develop state-of-the-art methods and laboratory techniques needed for the laboratory studies and evaluations of novel materials and processes. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute the assigned R&D projects, technical support activities and other laboratory operational activities. 
  • Establish and adapt the working plan in coordination with R&D management and other team members. 
  • Up to date knowledge and awareness of the novel/up and coming technologies related to manufacture, processing, and chemistry of binder materials. 
  • Expert in development and implementation of processes associated to chemical reactions specifically inorganic chemistry and materials science. 
  • Manage and lead contact with internal operations, central areas, and industrial partners to scale up and industrialize the chemical processes developed at laboratory scale. 
  • Establish a network with key Research centers, Universities, and institutes to find new research opportunities and novel technological developments. 
  • Assure the best operation online tools regarding LIM’s systems which include the usage of the lab equipment, maintenance, and administration of the lab resources.   
  • Assessment, development and ensure application of the safety measures related to laboratory management. 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science; master’s degree PREFERRED / Engineering; preferably in construction materials chemistry/cement chemistry/inorganic chemistry; manufacturing processes 
  • Experiences with LIMs system and IA data analysis 
  • 100% English proficient. 
  • 5 years of experience in similar position, etc. 
  • 2-3+ years of experience in Project Leadership and Technical Support.
