The Coopers Team Was in Dublin!
OFF TO DUBLIN! Last week the Coopers team was on tour and visited the lively capital of the Republic of Ireland.
Just arrived and the first impressions already excited us: next to English, everything is also signposted in Irish-Gaelic, which is hard to pronounce even after one or two pints.
The cityscape is just like one would imagine it: red brick houses in English-Georgian architecture with colorful wooden doors, pubs at every corner (and in-between) as well as a cloudy sky along with a soft sea breeze that are a nice reminder one has arrived on the Atlantic island.
Our first day was already filled with great adventures – starting with a super delicious lunch at the Old Schoolhouse restaurant (Fish and Chips!), followed by a visit of the Guinness Storehouse, the „Home of Guinness." In a former fermentation plant of the legendary St. James's Gate Brewery (which Arthur Guinness rented for 9000 years in 1759), equipped with an audio-guide, you delve into the history of Guinness. The visit is also worthwhile for non-Guinness-drinkers, among other reasons because of the spectacular panoramic view over Dublin from the Gravity Bar.
Dinner was served in a stylish setting at Roberta's and we were then headed to the legendary pub The Temple Bar to celebrate, should to shoulder, traditional Irish live music.
Dublin is the cultural and economic center of Ireland. This is nicely reflected in the mix of numerous early-Gothic churches and historic buildings, modern architecture projects and the large amount of cranes and construction sites. The city has a truly unique dynamic.
Modern and stylish also describes the LinkedIn Headquarter EMEA, where we were cordially welcomed and taken for a tour through the remarkable office building. Passing the gym, the canteen and the band rehearsal room (!), we toured the office spaces and arrived on top at the Barista Bar that is located next to the roof top, from where we once again enjoyed the view over sunny Dublin. What a nice place to work!
Meat, meat and more meat was served for lunch at F.X. Buckley Steakhouse. With full and happy bellies, we did a city tour of the special kind: equipped with Viking helmets we discovered our inner Vikings as well as the city of Dublin. Including loud roars. The amphibian vehicle (transformed from World War II) took us to sights on land and on water, at the Grand Canal "Silicon" Dock of the Liffey river. With a very entertaining, humorous guide, a blue sky and sunshine above, this was the perfect finale of our trip.
