Coopers Talent Acquisition Circle

With today's blog post, we would like to shine the spotlight on our Talent Acquisition Consultants! More specifically, the Talent Acquisition Circle, which we founded to foster the interaction between our Talent Acquisition Consultants. Especially in times of Corona and working from home, this is a valuable institution for us at Coopers. A common haven.
To learn more, we interviewed Elena Jansky – she joined the Coopers IT team as a Talent Acquisition Consultant in late 2020.

Elena, you are a Talent Acquisition Consultant at Coopers and recruit in the IT field. How can we imagine your job?
At Coopers, we have specialized recruiting teams for each industry, consisting of a team leader and usually several consultants. The team leaders and recruitment consultants manage the client side, while we TAs (that's how we call it internally) take care of the candidate side. Together with my colleague Linda, I work in Bettina's team.

As Talent Acquisition Consultants, we have a lot of contact with (potential) candidates. On the one hand we do a lot of research to track down the right specialist for a vacant position. On the other hand, we always strive to take good care of everyone who is in the application process. Maintaining contact with referred candidates is also a TA's job.

That sounds like a versatile job! Can you tell us a bit more about the TA Circle? What role does it play in your day-to-day work?
The TA Circle is great! Especially now, when we all work from home, it's nice to have a common port of call. It builds a bridge between us TAs. For me, it is valuable because it covers exclusively TA topics and we have the opportunity to express our problems, wishes et cetera here.

Can you give a concrete example?
Yes, one thing particularly pops in my mind. As our whole team is growing, it was time to discuss and standardize our work processes. As well as the documentation of it, so that our database remains well maintained. Together we found a solution and implemented it.
It's really cool when you can get things rolling yourself and work out a solution as a team. Acceptance is much higher than when you're told what to do top-down. It feels good to get things moving yourself.

Absolutely, self-efficacy is so important. It's great that the TA Circle promotes this. So, it certainly provides a great opportunity to learn from each other, doesn't it?
Totally! We share our best practices as well as things that don't work so well. This allows us to continuously improve ourselves. The fact that we can talk to each other so openly also promotes a sense of community.

What other topics does the TA Circle cover?
At the beginning, we analyzed our needs and collected relevant topics for us TAs. Based on this, we organize guest speakers, workshops, trainings, et cetera. They can be led by colleagues or by external specialists. To kick things off, we had a guest speaker who talked about active sourcing. That was very interesting, because the topic has become an integral part of our daily work.

Indeed, it is. We are slowly coming to the end of our interview. Is there anything else you would like to add?
Yes, one more thing comes to mind. I think it's really cool that we rely on innovative tools. For example, we use AHA slides in our sessions. That means, the speaker can include a quiz or a question in his presentation and the participants scan a QR code to directly submit their answers. One immediately receives the evaluation as a diagram on a slide. This is fun and saves time. You can also use it for brainstorming, which comes in quite handy.
Otherwise, I'm just looking forward to the next TA Circle; currently it takes place once a month.

I'm curious to see what it will be about then. We will be happy to report more about the TA Circle in the future. Dear Elena, thank you very much for taking the time for this interview.
The pleasure was all mine. And I'll be happy to fill you in on our TA topics in the future.

The Talent Acquisition Circle is a perfect fit for the Coopers culture. We have a strong team spirit, and we all work together closely – across industries, teams and spatial separation. We discuss important topics in plenary sessions because we value everyone's input. It is perfectly fine if that results in changes. We are not afraid to rethink and adapt our processes. After all, we want to constantly improve and respond to the wishes and concerns of our team – or to current circumstances, as the crisis has required.
In this environment, the Talent Acquisition Circle focuses on the needs of our Talent Acquisition Consultants. It offers them a safe haven and strengthens solidarity – the key for team spirit!
