27. June 2017

It's the ideal time for a day trip to a lake when the sun is shining and the temperatures rise to over 30 degrees Celsius. So the Coopers team has put together a list of five unique day trips to Swiss lakes just for you. Take your pick!

1. Swim by Lake Thun

The deep-blue Lake Thun lies between Thun and Interlaken embedded within an imposing backdrop of mountains. Sailors and windsurfers appreciate the light breeze across the water. Numerous swimming and shore areas invite visitors to cool off! The Lido in Merligen has a heated pool right by the lake, which is great for relaxing. The pool in Spiez has many leisure and recreation facilities. Water slides and diving boards provide a great opportunity for kids and adults to run wild. Anyone who doesn't want to go swimming can go on a boat ride across the Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. You can hop on in Thun, Interlaken West, Interlaken Ost or Brienz and everyone who is celebrating their birthday can travel in first class for free!

2. Take a boat trip from Biel to Murten

One of the most popular boat trips in Switzerland goes from Biel past Erlach to Murten. Lake Biel, Lake Neuchatel, and Lake Murten are connected by canals and rivers to form a unique waterway. On this trip, you get a magnificent view over picturesque hillside, vineyards and nature reserves.

3. Go canoeing on Lake Lucerne

Canoeing on Lake Lucerne fascinates beginners as well as experienced canoers. Feeling the wind brush across your face as you dip your paddle deep into the lake is simply wonderful. You can rent kayaks and canoes at the camp site in Buochs. There are nine routes that are suitable for all levels. There is the option to extend the canoe tour to several days, so you can maximize your time on the lake.

4. Take amazing photos at Blausee

One of the most famous mountain lakes in Switzerland is the "Blausee", which translates as "Blue Lake". The lake is a 50-minute drive from Berne in the Kander valley. All around this deep blue lake you will find picnic spots and fire places. A legend says that the lake is blue because a young girl with blue eyes went into the lake to weep following the death of her lover. That is why the lake is so blue to remind visitors of the unhappy girl. Near the lake is an organic trout farm. You can even buy trout at the entrance. From March 30 to November 15 the entry to the park costs 8 CHF for adults. Children under the age of five are free.
