Nice Things To Do on August 1st, 2021

Sunday is August 1st and Switzerland celebrates its birthday – its 730th birthday. It will be possible to get together with friends and loved ones based on the relaxed Corona measures. Therefore, many are looking forward to fire sparks, lanterns, and a sociable traditional brunch. Now we just keep our fingers crossed for some nice weather.

It's nice that the national holiday falls on a Sunday this year. That invites a weekend full of excursions and nice things to do. We have gathered some ideas on how to spend the weekend.

Culinary – Many Swiss opt for a generous brunch to get August 1st started. Numerous farms have special offers for the occasion. Anyone who is interested in joining this culinary morning ceremony should hurry to book a table asap.

At the Sunday BBQ at Quartierhof Wynegg, you can swing the barbecue tong yourself to roast delicious sausages, corn on the cob & co. on the fire. Simply add a good local wine to toast to Switzerland to round off a nice evening setting. Vinaiolo also has a wonderful white wine from Magden on tap, they are open this Friday, July 30th from 5:30pm until 9pm.

The Feldschlösschen Restaurant in Rheinfelden is organizing a culinary journey through Switzerland from 31.07. to 01.08. themed "Swiss Meals" including a luscious "brewer's brunch" on Sunday. Ideal for all gourmets who want to feast on traditional Swiss delicacies. Reservations are requested.

Outdoor – Full of good hope that the weather will remain stable over the next days, summertime is best enjoyed outside in the fresh air. Switzerland offers so many beautiful spots to explore. The Pizol mountains in particular offer entertainment for the whole family, for example on the Heidi trail or in the water forest.
The beauty of Switzerland: you don't necessarily have to drive anywhere, there are beautiful walking trails everywhere, even in your own region. Just pack a snack, put on your hiking boots and head out.

Culture – In the Forum of Swiss History Schwyz of the Swiss National Museum you can visit the exhibition "Switzerland in the Making". "Designed as an adventure tour to address our senses, the exhibition appeals to children and adults alike. The extraordinary scenography over all three floors makes a visit to the museum an event to remember." is how the Forum describes the exhibition – doesn't that make you want to get started right away.

By the way, a stone's throw from the Swiss National Museum is the Museum Of Swiss Charters Of Confederation. There lies the important Federal Charter of 1291, which is considered to be the founding document of Switzerland. On the occasion of the holiday on August 1st, there are two public guided tours, for which you can register here. Participation and admission are
